As part of the IT Mentoring Program at Startup Refugees, I participated in a hackathon where our team collaborated to develop innovative digital solutions addressing real-world challenges faced by newcomers in Finland.
StartUp Refugees case
StartUp Refugees helps individuals navigate Finland's job market by matching them with coaches for support in areas like CV writing, skill-building, and job searching. However, the current process is mostly manual and unstructured, leading to inefficiencies for both job seekers and coaches.
Solution:
Built a booking system integrating Google Calendar to connect job seekers with language-matching career coaches, improving the manual matching process of the StartUp Refugees platform.
I was selected as one of the participants in the Dash Hackathon. I was under the Vaisala challenge, one of their partner companies.
Vaisala's Challenge
Actionable Weather and Air Quality in Urban areas
How could improved accuracy and high spatial resolution weather and air quality observations and forecasts be used to change the way we live our daily lives, benefit businesses and support the communities operating in urban areas?
Solution:
Proposed an ML model using Vaisala's weather data to predict what kind of products Tiktok's vendors should sell to maximize profits.
